Why I Study Bible Prophecy

The reason why I study Bible Prophecy is three-fold. First, because it is proven true and accurate. Second, because it’s fascinating and complex until you understand it and then it becomes clear. Third, because it opens hearts and minds to the Lord Jesus Christ and also wins souls for the Lord. I don’t want anyone to end up in hell. If I had a worst enemy, I wouldn’t even want them in hell. Unfortunately, many will condemn themselves to hell, by not accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. So, I hope this brief explanation of why I study Bible Prophecy will help you.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Only God Can Predict the Future

The God of the Bible is self-existent, which means He had no beginning and will have no end. Therefore, He existed before the universe He created. The God of the Bible is also omnipresent, which means He exists everywhere always. In other words, he exists and lives within the past, present, and future all at the same time. Therefore, He alone can see the past present and future simultaneously. This gives Him a unique perspective and the ability to know future events. It also gives Him the power to know everything we ever did or will do as individuals. He knows us better than we could ever know ourselves. He is the all-knowing, omnipresent God.

Bible Prophesy is True

The accuracy of Bible Prophesy is unprecedented. There are literally thousands of prophecies in the Bible and 100% of them have come true so far. There are still future prophecies that are coming true today and in the future. How can I know that? Well, the Bible has been searched and scrutinized for about 2,000 years now and no one has proven one of the prophecies to be false. So, the truth of the scripture is undeniable. That, plus the fact that no other religious writing has had any prophecy come true. There have been others that predicted the future, but all had to be rewritten because the prophecy never came true. Only the Bible is truly prophetic and accurate.

Example of Bible Prophesy Accuracy

The Prophet Isaiah wrote about a King named Cyrus that would free Israel from captivity and allow them to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. Isaiah prophesied this about 100 years before Cyrus was born. Cyrus, a Mede King, fought southwestward and consequently defeated Babylon in 538 BC and became the ruler of the Medo-Persian Empire. As predicted, he released the Jews back to their land after 70 years of captivity, which was also prophesied long before it happened.

Another Example of Bible Prophesy Accuracy

Another example of the Bible’s accuracy is the Birth of Jesus. Specifically, where Jesus was born. The Prophet Micah predicted the birthplace of Jesus in Micah 5:2 . He said that the birthplace would be Bethlehem Ephratah. This is significant because there were 2 Bethlehem’s. One near Lebanon and the other south of Jerusalem.  Bethlehem Ephratah is the one south of Jerusalem and was also the birthplace of Jesus. Also known as the City of David. These are just 2 out of thousands of prophecies. As well as hundreds of prophecies were about Jesus alone and all came true. This prophecy was written about 700 years before Jesus was born.

Fascinating Complexity of Prophecy

Prophecy was written in a manner that requires search and study. It is not laid out in a nice linear step-by-step way. You have to learn the entire Bible and study the intricacies of it in order to understand prophecy. I personally think God did that on purpose because it encourages study. There are several books and websites dedicated to the study of Bible Prophecy that can help. I highly recommend a book by Ron Rhodes called “The End Times in Chronological Order” because it puts all the End Time prophecy in order. You can find his Reasoning from the Scriptures ministry HERE. Ron has many other books you might be interested in too. I love to study and learn, especially about the Bible and my Lord Jesus Christ. But there are shortcuts to understanding Bible Prophecy available if you seek them.

Bible Prophecy Opens Hearts and Minds to the Lord Jesus Christ

The most important reason to study Bible Prophecy is to open hearts and minds to the Lord Jesus Christ. Prophecy can also share with you where you are at and where you are going. It shares that there is a Heaven and you can go there. Prophecy also shares that Satan is already defeated, but God is holding back his final wrath until as many people accept Jesus as possible. God is patient as well as generous. Willing to wait until all are told about Christ and also all have the opportunity to accept or reject Him. Those that reject Jesus condemn themselves.

Preparing the Way

God provided Biblical truth and prophecy to prepare the way for Christ and then Christ paid our sin debt so that we can live eternally. Prophecy reveals that the God of the Bible has already won the illogicality named “Battle of Good and Evil.” It has never been a battle, because God can’t be defeated. He has already won.
