US and World Population

The human population continues to rise but in very specific ways. People in power have been saying that our population growth is unsustainable for decades. Consequently, entire countries have taken steps to decrease the rise in population in their countries. Only to find that it was a horrible error in judgment. So, I’ll share some statistics, facts, and my opinion concerning the US and World Population.

The US Population

According to the US population clock, the current US population is estimated to be a total of 321,773,631. The male population is at 159,493,772 and the female population at 162,279,859. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, there are no other genders mentioned. Specifically, because there are only two human genders. That being said, the US has 3.80 million square miles of land, which means that there is more than 1 square mile of land per person in the US. Which means that there is plenty of land for increases in our population. According to Farmland LP, each US citizen requires 1 acre of land to supply his or her food requirements. Because one square mile equals 640 acres of land. Again, the US has more than enough land for population expansion.

World Population

The World Population

According to the World population clock, the current population of the earth is 7,349,472,099 almost 7.35 billion people. The male population is 3,707,205,753 and the female population is 3,642,266,346. I’m going to mirror what I did in the proceeding paragraph concerning the world population. Hence, according to Harris, of “Sciencing”, there are about 20 million miles of farmable land on this planet. About 7 million in farmland and 13 million for livestock. That’s 367.5 people per square mile of farmable land. Hence, with each person needing about 1 acre of land to supply their needs. That gives us 1.74 acres of arable (farmable) land on earth. That would mean that we have room for another 5.34 billion people. The earth can sustain about 12.5 billion people. With global advances in farming techniques that the number of people could be easily increased.

Political Agenda and World Population

The “powers that be” seem to be trying to control the world population. Now, this is just my opinion, of course. But it stands to reason that if the people in power are pushing for population control, they must have an agenda. I personally feel that it’s a “more for them and less for others” agenda, but again that’s just my opinion. I’m a capitalist and feel that capitalism is the greatest system of commerce that has ever existed. Within capitalism, if you work hard and do well you succeed, but if you’re lazy you fail. This encourages people to innovate and think. While socialism encourages people to settle for the status quo and slip into laziness. Again, these are just my opinions, which according to US law, I’m entitled too. We should not allow the “powers that be” change our system of capitalism and push population control.

World Population Control

Types of World Population Control

Well, I would be remiss if I failed to mention war as world population control. According to ABC News, 378,000 people worldwide died in war each year. That’s a “drop in the bucket” compared to the 70 to 85 million estimated deaths for both military and civilian casualties in WWII. But again, this is also not taking into account the vast numbers of people who have died in war since the first murderer, Cain picked up that rock and killed his brother. The current rate of murder per year is about 500,000 annually. According to, Progressive Economy, traffic accidents take about 1.24 million lives per year worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, about 360,000 people die from drowning annually. Illegal drugs kill another 250,000 annually. And let’s not forget abortion that murders another 40 to 50 million infants worldwide each year.

What Does All This Mean?

First, there is lots of room for more people. Second, we are murderous bloody savages. Third, at the rate we are killing each other and also killing the unborn, we do not have a world population problem of any kind. Above I mentioned many ways that we die, but that’s not an all-inclusive list. There are many more ways that people die including illness, disease, pestilence, starvation and more. So, in total there are about 56 to 57 million deaths per year from all causes. Our current population growth is about 83.78 million per year or 1.14% growth. So, the net gain of people annually after correcting for deaths is only about 32 million per year.

Happy Family

So, if we have room for another 12.5 billion people and the death to birth ratio stays about the same. Overpopulation of the world will be in about 390 years – give or take a few years.

What Lays Ahead

I’m not worried about the population and neither should you be. We’ll kill ourselves off long before we run out of space. Also, you can give this some thought. Bible prophesies say that all born-again Christians will be taken from the earth in the Rapture. So, if that happens, and I personally believe it will, approximately 2 billion people will vanish. If all the infants and children under the age of nine are also taken in the rapture that’ll be another 1.33 billion. So, the population of earth will plummet from 7.35 billion to 4.02 billion in the “twinkle of an eye.” Just imagine the socioeconomic disaster that will bring. I shudder to think…

Final Thoughts – World Population

These are current numbers and will change as the year’s pass. Please feel free to check my math. I’m not a math whiz, so feel free to check my work.

I just know I have no worries about our population and you shouldn’t worry either. Live, Love, marry, and have children. Life is for living, so Live.
